Microsoft SQL Server RsFx Driver 10.0

Microsoft SQL Server RsFx Driver, developed by Microsoft Corporation, is a Windows kernel-mode file system driver installed with SQL Server. It underpins the FILESTREAM and FileTable features by bridging the SQL Server Database Engine with the NTFS file system. This lets applications read and write large binary data (such as documents, images, and media) through standard file system APIs while SQL Server maintains transactional consistency, security, and manageability.

Key capabilities:

• Enables high-throughput, streaming access to FILESTREAM data via Win32 file APIs.
• Enforces SQL Server security and transactional semantics when files are opened and modified.
• Integrates with SQL Server management operations, such as backup/restore and cleanup of orphaned data.
• Activates only when FILESTREAM or FileTable is enabled; otherwise it remains idle.
